Ah m’GAWD SO EXCITED!!! I mite even go to bed before midnight so I can wake up during the morning!!!!
So I start at Gameloft tomorrow as a QA Tester. 3pm, so I go there straight after school. They put me on part time until I finish my studies one month from now. Means I end up spending less time on our school project that is also very behind in schedule. I’m working on throwing in the art assets in all the right places so perhaps the task I’ve been given is perfect for someone like me who can only be in class till 2pm.
This is something I really didn’t see coming. I’ve always had a really hard time getting jobs. Either I haven’t managed to grab anyone’s attention, or I’m just not suited for the role, or the place I want to work has no openings. And this is just any old job, I considered myself lucky when I got my job at Farmers for crying out loud!
Boy was I worried about what to do once course was over and done with. No study-link money any more and the dole is a BARREL OF FUN TO APPLY FOR!!! I’ve been discouraged from the QA role but really I don’t see why. Yes, I’m qualified as an artist, but it’s not all I can do. And the way I see it, my dream is to work in the games industry. I’m sure I will take on a few roles before my life has run it’s course. Also, competition is tragic for art roles in the gaming industry. I’m strangely confident about it but QA is another job in the industry I’ll happily take on. I want the experience and I have always wondered what the job is like. To be honest, it’s something I WANT to try my hand at as an experience. I’ll go for art roles later, not during my internship though, that would just brand me with a bad name. Loyalty is a precious thing after-all. No, I have a lot to be grateful for. So much level design I still wanted to do but have not had time. I’m told this is 6-8 hours a day. That opens up so much time for me that I didn’t have before!
Roll on tomorrow, I can’t wait! xD
